Safety Systems & Process Oversight

Maintain and enhance the company's Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring alignment with OSHA, EPA, ISO standards, and other industry requirements.

Lead the continuous improvement of safety-related processes, procedures, and documentation.

Inspect and assess the performance of safety policies, procedures, and operational controls to verify compliance and effectiveness in both manufacturing and construction-type activities.

Monitor safety performance through audits, inspections, and field observations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Collaborate closely with operations leadership to enhance safety systems while maintaining production schedules.

Ensure safety systems and controls are integrated into production, fabrication, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance work.

Maintain digital safety management platforms for documentation, training records, and compliance tracking.

Audit machine guarding effectiveness and high-risk work operation procedural compliance.

Policy, Procedure & Compliance Oversight

Review and update safety policies, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to match operational changes and best practices.

Conduct field observations, activity hazard analysis (AHAs), and task audits to confirm that procedures are followed consistently.

Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.

Lead internal and external safety audits and coordinate corrective action plans.

Maintain accurate safety documentation to ensure ongoing compliance readiness.

Lead strategic meetings with leadership to establish buy-in and integrate suggestions into plans.

Training & Culture Development

Coordinate and deliver training on safety systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements for manufacturing and construction-like activities.

Support supervisors and managers in implementing safety requirements during day-to-day operations.

Promote a proactive safety culture that encourages hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and safe work practices.

Serve as a resource for technical safety guidance related to manufacturing, fabrication, and industrial construction tasks.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Procedure Compliance Rate : Percentage of observed tasks where procedures are followed as written.

Audit Performance : Pass rate for internal and external audits.

Incident Rate Reduction : Year-over-year decrease in recordable incidents, first aid cases, near misses, and severity rates.

Corrective Action Closure Time : Average days to close identified corrective actions from audits and inspections.

Training Completion Rate : Percentage of employees current on all required safety training.

Safety Observation Participation : Number of safety observations submitted by employees each month.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in safety, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field required (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in safety management within a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial construction environment.

Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA requirements, and ISO safety management frameworks (e.g., ISO 45001).

Experience with safety management systems, procedure audits, and digital safety platforms.

Preferred certifications : CSP, ASP, CHST, or CPEA.

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of hazard control principles for both manufacturing and construction-type tasks.

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all organizational levels.

Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software platforms.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing plant and fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy machinery.

Frequent presence in areas where construction-type activities occur, including equipment installation, maintenance shutdowns, and structural modifications.

Required use of PPE in operational areas.

Occasional travel to other facilities or project sites.
