Eaton's IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Co-op : Design Engineering. The hourly rate for this position is $25.50 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You'll Do :

The co-op in the engineering group will work with experienced engineers to perform design engineering in support of production and development programs. In addition to design engineering, the Co-op will work in onsite engineering lab performing development testing with vibration tables, thermal chambers, and simulated aircraft lubrication systems. The Co-op will interface with electrical engineering group and analyze problems involving strength of materials, stress analysis, fluid flow, and heat transfer. Also, the Co-op will have the opportunity to interact with customers, engineers, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers in a dynamic team environment.

Essential functions : Individual contributor able to learn and apply knowledge of principles and practices of mechanical systems. Capable to develop conclusions from analyses and apply results to support project team's activities.

• Provides engineering solutions that meet customer performance, weight, cost, and schedule requirements. Works closely with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous end use requirements. Provides technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery.
• Understands mechanical systems and robust design methods.
• Proactively learns processes and technologies to support design efforts.
• Selects materials, finishes, processes, and dimensions required to meet design intent. Works closely with manufacturing engineers, designers, and suppliers to create and release detail and assembly drawings to achieve customer requirements.
• Performs thermal, structural, fluid dynamic, vibration, and tolerance analyses to verify compliance with design requirements. Uses FEA and manual approaches as required.
• Provides "hands on" support to manufacturing during machining, assembly, and test of prototype and production hardware.
• Performs product design verification and validation testing to determine design compliance.
• Supports product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests.
