IT Embedded Risk Manager NYC, NY / Hybrid

Job Purpose We are looking for a talented IT Embedded Risk Manager to join our dynamic team and play a key role in risk management within the Information Technology function. An IT Embedded Risk Manager acts as a bridge between the IT function and the broader risk management framework, ensuring that IT risks are proactively managed and aligned with the overall business objectives and risk appetite of the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing IT risk management tasks, ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated effectively. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including IT teams, business units, and other risk and control functions, to proactively manage and minimize potential risks to the organization. Job Responsibilities Responsible for day-to-day IT risk management activities, managing deadlines and stakeholder expectations Proactively lead and support efforts to identify and mitigate risk within IT Assist in the identification of strategies and controls to mitigate identified risks, working with relevant teams to ensure timely remediation of issues Oversee the testing of IT controls to ensure their effectiveness and compliance with relevant policies and regulations in partnership with second line of defence Collaborate with IT teams and other risk and control functions to build strong relationships and facilitate effective risk management practices Prepare and present risk reports to relevant stakeholders, highlighting key risks, control effectiveness, and mitigation efforts including but not limited to key management updates, IT Governance dashboards, risk exception reports, vulnerability reports, KRIs and key risk updates Manage projects related to risk assessment, control implementation, and remediation efforts Governance over the development and maintenance of IT risk management standards and procedures and ensure adherence Track adherence and escalate issues and risks with IT Service Management processes Active role in leading audit prep, evidence gathering and issue tracking in internal audits and regulatory exams Reassess existing processes and create new ones that most effectively anticipate, manage, and reduce risk Demonstrate and embed the behaviours and competencies that create a risk management mindset in the organization Support ongoing staff awareness and education on effective risk management. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree At least 10 years of experience in managing IT risk 10 to 15+ years of experience in the financial industry preferred Excellent organization and written and verbal communication skills Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and software development concepts including IT Service Management processes Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and influence change while calling out issues and risks objectively and clearly Ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, know when to escalate and develop effective solutions Strong project management skills and the ability to manage projects related to risk assessment, control implementation, and remediation efforts Demonstrate proficiency in project management, program management, executive-level presentation skills, and the implementation of continuous process improvement Ability to manage multiple moderate to complex tasks with aggressive timelines as well as meeting changing requirements resulting from evolving technology and business needs Knowledge of project management tools including JIRA, Monday.com, Confluence Familiarity with risk management software, GRC platforms, and other relevant tools
