METECS is seeking a mid-level Simulation Software Engineer to support NASA’s Orion spacecraft as part of the Artemis program.

In this role, you’ll help develop, test, and maintain high-fidelity simulations that model Orion’s complex systems and interactions with the Space Launch System (SLS), Co-Manifested Payloads (CPLs), and the Gateway lunar space station.

This position spans the full software development lifecycle—from systems engineering and requirements definition to implementation, CI / CD support, and integration testing.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and maintain simulation software for Orion spacecraft systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to model and validate spacecraft behavior.
  • Implement and optimize software using Python and C++.
  • Support integration and verification testing to ensure simulation accuracy and reliability.

Apply lessons learned from previous Orion missions to improve tools and processes for Artemis III and IV.

  • Contribute to a high-performing, mission-driven team environment.

    • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, or a related field. 3–7 years of experience in software development, ideally in aerospace or simulation environments.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and C++ development.
  • Experience working in Linux-based environments.
  • Familiarity with hardware / software integration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

    • Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker).
  • Familiarity with machine emulators such as SIMICS or QEMU.
  • Background in spaceflight systems or aerospace simulation is a plus.
  • Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
