Security Guard - Oakland

Overview

Serves as centralized security function for Mercy Retirement Care Center night shift. Responsible for making security rounds of the interior building, for securing inside doors and for locking gates and policing outside grounds. Monitors centralized electronic securty system. Handles all telephone calls and screens visitors. The security guard responds to resident emergencies, directs emergency personnel upon arrival at the facility and / or notifies other facility staff of an emergency situation. Performs light housekeeping duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Guard Registration Card (Guard Card).
• Good attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
• Capacity to handle several tasks simultaneously without getting flustered or irritated; good problem-solving skills.
• A minimum of two years' experience in providing security work with large facilities.
• English language skills necessary for understanding detailed instructions, relaying or acting on such instructions, relaying complex messages and reporting facts to others.
