THE OPPORTUNITY

The ideal candidate is a practiced problem solver, maintains a calm demeanor under pressure, persists to get the job done, is extremely organized, and goes above and beyond to ensure events at The Longboard [Sullivans Island], The Longboard [St. John], The Longboard [St. Thomas], and The Easterly [St. Thomas] are a success.

The Event Manager is the main point of contact and primary representative for all events affiliated with Ballast Hospitality and Ballast Hospitality concepts. Communication among concept managers, chefs, clients, guests, vendors, and planners is a defining characteristic of this position. The Event Manager will handle the management of all proposals, menus, staffing needs, and on-site event coordination (when needed).

The Event Manager will be based our of our location at The Longboard [Sullivan's Island]. Candidate will participate in daily operations as a service manager at the restaurant during non event duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

First point of contact for all events

Handles pre-event coordination, including responding to phone and email requests for event information, pricing, creating event proposals, and following up with potential clients

Works closely with the General Managers and Executive Chefs in the marketing, planning, and execution of events

Meeting with potential clients to discuss event plans

Preparing event contracts, proposals, and post-event invoices

Communicates with concept managers, chefs, clients, vendors, coordinators, pr team, marketing department, and guests to deliver contracted services as agreed upon

Operate onsite and offsite events to the specifications outlined by the client and with the professionalism and customer service standards mandated by Ballast Hospitality

Effectively and efficiently direct, manage, and lead a group of Ballast Hospitality staff to successfully operate onsite and offsite events

Maintaining a visible working presence and serving as client point-of-contact during events, when applicable

Utilize systems to communicate efficiently, create product lists, and inventory pull sheets

Create Run of Show for events and distribute to all involved

Assist with set up when needed

Demonstrate integrity in all areas, both personal and professional

Instill trust and dependability among the staff, always working with a team mindset and from a place of respect

Ensure that all financial and personnel administrative duties are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures

Ensure proper safety procedures are in place to provide a safe working and guest environment, and to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Report employee or guest accidents promptly to Ballast Hospitality

Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of events to ensure compliance with operational standards, health department regulations, and all federal / state / local laws. Always follow and enforce company policies and procedures

Ensure consistent, high-quality service and food preparation. Adhere to company standards and brand identity

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

QUALIFICATIONS

Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability, and outgoing nature

Exceptional communication skills

Strong knowledge of food and beverage is a must

Attention to detail and ability to multitask and delegate

Strong computer skills, eye for design

Minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in a supervisory position for a full-service, high volume, restaurant, and event management experience is a must.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Ability to travel to the USVI as needed for events.
