Job Description
NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 are looking for a bilingual journalist to create content for multiple platforms in our duopoly newsroom. This role will contribute to the creation of web articles and video content for all platforms including apps, social media accounts and streaming channels. The role requires writing and video editing experience, as well as the ability to speak and write in both English and Spanish fluently. Knowledge of linear TV production is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Create daily digital content using a variety of sources for multiplatform distribution – Website, App, Social Media, Fast channel, OTT and linear.
- Work with the news desk and producers to publish and follow breaking news, including sending push alerts.
- Execute on SEO best practices in selecting and creating content daily for websites and social media.
- Monitor a variety of video sources to identify content that would appeal to our audiences.
- Support reporters with the creation of original digital content.
- Contribute to the creation of video series for OTT, FAST and all platforms.
- Fill in on the assignment desk, as needed.
- Create content for linear / broadcast platforms, which could include writing of scripts or editing video.
- Stay on the cutting-edge of digital multimedia trends and innovation.
- Curate national content to our sites from a variety of wire and content partner sources.
- Consistently show a solid news judgment.
- Stay up to date with local and national news stories.
- Be a problem solver who can make decisions under stress and tight deadlines.
- Translate content between English and Spanish when needed.
- Contribute to enterprise projects that support local news coverage.
- Coordinate and monitor the streaming of live events and newscasts on our platforms.
- Abide by the ethical standards of the NBC News Group and Telemundo Station Group when creating and producing content for all platforms.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of multimedia experience at a major news organization that creates content under tight deadlines.Experience working with an online publishing tool or content management system.Must be able to write on deadline with speed and accuracy using AP Style.Proficient with Adobe Premiere or other professional desktop editing programs.Experience with writing and / or editing and / or producing daily video products.A track record of creative storytelling across multiple web platforms and an understanding of what works best in different spaces.Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required.Must be available to work overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or required.Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.Must be willing to work in Miramar, FL.Must be 18 years or greater.Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.Must be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations including hurricanes.Desired Characteristics
Exceptional communication skills.Experience writing scripts, captions and text for video graphics.Excellent news instincts with the ability to react decisively to breaking news.Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive news environment.Experience in editing video for web, social media platforms & TV.Basic proficiency with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Audition or comparable creative tools a plus.Experience with videography and conducting field shoots a plus.Experience with Wordpress, SocialFlow, CrowdTangle and WildMoka a plus.Team player mentality.Additional Information
