Pipeline Engineer IV

Position Overview :
As a Pipeline Engineer IV at Client, you will take independent ownership of complex, high-impact Integrity & Risk Management (I&RM) projects. This role requires extensive technical expertise, strong project management skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure pipeline safety, reliability, and long-term integrity. You will serve as a key subject matter expert, driving strategic asset management initiatives while maintaining strong relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Integrity & Risk Management (I&RM) Project Sponsorship :
- Lead the development, justification, and active sponsorship of non-routine I&RM projects from initiation through completion and operational handover.
- Prepare detailed project scopes, business cases, risk assessments, and funding requests in collaboration with Pipeline Integrity and GTM teams.
- Manage project execution oversight including gating reviews, commissioning, and post-project evaluations.
- Handle portfolios of projects involving pipeline replacements, recoating, hydrotests, hazard remediation, and integrity upgrades.
- Oversee project scope, cost, schedule, and change management, ensuring alignment with long-range plans and budgets.
2. I&RM Due Diligence & Project Assurance :
Ensure comprehensive I&RM integration in due diligence for new asset developments, acquisitions, or divestitures.Develop and execute I&RM plans, inspection protocols, and budget forecasts throughout project lifecycles.Provide technical support for business development and corporate initiatives related to pipeline infrastructure.Participate in cross-functional project reviews and maintain documented due diligence procedures.3. Cross-Functional Representation & Strategic Asset Management :
Represent the I&RM department in multi-disciplinary teams focused on asset management and operational optimization.Serve as the I&RM lead for assigned pipeline assets, providing balanced, data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments including Gas Control, Operations, Asset Management, Commercial, and Regulatory groups.Promote and sustain productive internal and external stakeholder relationships.4. Project Management & Safety Leadership :
Drive safety accountability and promote a safe working environment for employees and contractors.Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risks with active tracking and stakeholder communication.Oversee procurement processes, construction coordination, and quality assurance activities.Ensure timely completion of project documentation and knowledge transfer to Technical Records.5. Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement :
Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior staff, contractors, and consultants.Contribute to the development and refinement of integrity project processes, procedures, and decision-making frameworks.Stay current with industry innovations, standards, and best practices to enhance Client’s integrity programs.Participate in incident investigations and proactive risk mitigation efforts.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (Pipeline, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred).Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in pipeline integrity engineering or related fields.Strong technical expertise in pipeline systems, integrity assessment, risk management, and remediation techniques.Proven project management skills with experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects and portfolios.Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound technical and business decisions independently.Familiarity with industry regulations, standards (e.g., ASME, API), and risk-informed decision-making tools.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
