The Information Technology Department at Whittier College is seeking a Network Administrator.
The Network Administrator manages all aspects of the college’s data and voice communications systems and maintains the campus cable plant. Will monitor network system performance and continuously strive to improve speed and coverage throughout the campus. Assists the Assistant Director of Systems and Networking with operational support, maintenance, and implementation of server, network, and cloud solutions.

Salary Range : $81,368 annually; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, supports and troubleshoots the campus voice and data communications network.
- Administrates, monitors, gathers statistics, and maintains network management of all network devices and systems, including hardware components, networking software systems, UPSs, and protocols. Prepares detailed proposals, cost analyses, and project management and implementation requirements.
- Installs intra- and inter-building network cables and associated hardware.
- Creates and maintains a holistic network security strategy, including a perimeter firewall, network access control systems, VPN / SDP software and wireless security.
- Develops and recommends short- and long-range objectives consistent with college guidelines. Maintains currency in new developments and technology and recommends and implements as appropriate
- Manage the operations of a college telephone service, including billing, supervising vendor technicians, and voice mail administration.
- Trains and supervises student employees to maintain and support the operations of network services. Schedules and assigns work, provides for quality assurance reviews and feedback to ensure performance standards are met. Establishes performance goals, assesses performance, and determines individual merit, incentive and or promotional increases.
- Develops user-oriented and technical documentation, manuals, and other types of materials used for information distribution, training, operational or procedural purposes.
- Develop, design, and test backup and disaster recovery plan in accordance with college guidelines.

Knowledge and Education : Bachelor’s degree in related subject or equivalent. Combined experience and education may be substituted for degree.
