Salary :
Pherson is seeking an engaging and mission-driven Instructor / Training Specialist to support the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) in anticipation of a potential contract award expected to start in September 2025. This full-time role focuses on preparing spouses for assignments within Security Cooperation Organizations (SCOs) through a combination of virtual and in-person instruction.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience supporting diplomatic missions overseas, a background in adult education, and a strong understanding of family preparedness in international environments. Key responsibilities may include curriculum development, course delivery, student support, and collaboration with interagency partners, in alignment with DSCUs academic and accreditation standards. (This position anticipates onsite work with standard work hours, Monday-Friday.)

Key Responsibilities :
- Assist with student enrollment to include responding to student inquiries, validating eligibility, working with the DSCU registrar, Defense Security Cooperation Service (DSCS) Training Management, and providing input for student travel order processes.
- Manage the virtual and instructor-led (in-residence in NCR) sessions of the SCO Spouse Course to include curriculum development, instruction, execution support (with DSCU assistance).
- Maintain course documentation and student records in accordance with accreditation standards and DSCU / DSI published guidance.
- Support course evaluation and curriculum revisions; assist in identifying curriculum gaps and propose necessary changes IAW DSI processes.
- Collaborate with DSI to align and integrate program instruction with other DSI courses to include the SCO Qualification Course.
- Collaborate with DSCA, DoD, DoS, and other governmental organizations to facilitate student engagements, guest speaker presentations, professional development opportunities, and identification of topics of mutual concern to DSCU / DSI.
- Support in executing training practical exercises for DSI students.
- Provide subject matter expertise and instruction on topics related to diplomatic etiquette and protocol.
- Provide subject matter expertise and instructional support to other programs supported by DSI, (e.g., Joint Foreign Area Officer Course, Defense Adviser Course, etc.).
- Provide student support, performance support / coaching, feedback, communications, and reach back.
- Support the DSI Director, Deputy Directors, Division Chiefs, and course managers in addressing student-related issues.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with DSCA SCW Certification 2.0 efforts as applicable.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.Minimum of three (3) years of experience related to SCO type support. With a minimum of 2 years of service in a US Embassy.Minimum of one (1) year of family preparedness background.Functional experience in adult education and training (in person or virtual). instructional design training and facilitation.About Pherson
