Server Position
The essential functions of the job for the Server, requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following :
- Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable.
- Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages, etc.).
- Must adhere to Viva Senior Living's attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loves ones.
- Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Server shall provide meals and beverages to residents in the dining room and is responsible for the total resident experience.Involves independent and team responsibilities regarding set-up and clean-up of the dining room for meal service and other prep / closing duties.Take attendance at meals, if assignedOffer residents beverages prior to meal, including ice water, juice of choice, milk, or other beverages as desiredEnsure that appropriate condiments are available for current mealEnsure that the dining room is prepared for meal serviceParticipate in pre-service meeting and tasting to understand the meals being served at that serviceKnowledgeable of menu items including : Daily Specials, Special Diet accommodationsEnsure that food order is correct as requested by resident prior to serving resident meal in the dining roomServe resident meal in courses as often as possibleEnsure resident is satisfied with presentation of meal prior to leaving table and has everything they need to eat that meal and offer alternatives, if desiredInform kitchen of any resident concerns regarding mealRemain available during meal service for assistance when / if neededNotify medical staff immediately on any medical emergency or any change in eating habits as this may be indication a resident is not feeling wellWork closely in a team setting with Food and Beverage Director, Dining Room Supervisor, Cooks, and fellow dining staff and nursing to assist when neededFollow community policies and procedures regarding safety standardsFollow community policies and procedures regarding food sanitationWear appropriate uniform and nametag and adhere to hygiene standardsClean up vases, change tablecloths if necessary and wipe down chairs and chair legs if dirty from mealtimeMust be able to lift a 25-pound tray overheadKeep the dining room floor clean and vacuum between all mealsMaintain a positive, welcoming, and accommodating attitude towards residents alwaysPerform other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Director, Dining Room Manager, and Executive DirectorRequirements
