Job Description

The Audio Engineer / Editor is responsible for ensuring exceptional sound quality across all audio production needs, including live events, studio sessions, and post-production editing. This role operates and maintains audio equipment, captures clean recordings, edits and mixes sound, and prepares final deliverables for multiple platforms. The Audio Engineer / Editor collaborates closely with producers, directors, performers, and media teams to deliver polished audio that aligns with creative and technical expectations. This position supports the organization’s mission through the production of high-quality, purpose-driven content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, test, and operate professional audio equipment for studio recordings, live events, and remote productions.
  • Monitor recording sessions and live events to identify and address technical issues in real-time.
  • Edit and enhance audio recordings to remove noise, correct errors, and ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Mix multi-track recordings, apply effects, and balance audio levels for optimal sound quality.
  • Master final audio for distribution in formats suitable for streaming, broadcast, podcast, or other media.
  • Conduct sound checks in collaboration with performers and the Front of House Engineer to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with creative and production teams to fulfill artistic and technical goals of each project.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot audio equipment and software; recommend upgrades and replacements as needed.
  • Stay current with emerging audio technologies, software updates, and industry trends.
  • Ensure all audio content adheres to legal and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for each project.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the ministry’s overall mission.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelors degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Communication, or a related field is desirable.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in audio production, including recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
  • Experience supporting live sound for events, worship services, or studio productions required.
  • Familiarity with church, broadcast, or faith-based production environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated portfolio or samples of previous audio projects preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Technical proficiency in audio recording, editing, mixing, and mastering tools (e.g., Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, Waves plugins).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality audio output.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with performers, producers, and technical staff.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under pressure in live and studio settings.
  • Adaptability and initiative to support diverse projects, technologies, and evolving production needs.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, and more than 40 pounds infrequently with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
