Student employment allows you to acquire work experience, transferable job skills, self-confidence, and develop a network of professional contacts for your future career. On-campus jobs include departmental, federal / state work-study, and graduate assistantships (GA) in non-academic departments. Keep in mind that each department makes their own hiring decisions, therefore students are not placed in a job or guaranteed a job.

Position Information Hour Position Title Academic Support Aide Department ARMAS Department Summary The Achieving in Research, Math, and Science (ARMAS) Center offers academic support to all NMHU students. ARMAS is centered on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education and outreach that aims to create a welcoming and safe environment, build confidence and STEAM identity, and support student success. ARMAS provides supplemental instruction, tutoring, study spaces, access to free printers, a kitchenette, and a Makerspace. Student employees are critical to the success of ARMAS operations, events, activities, and outreach. General Job Description ARMAS Center Technicians are responsible for :
- Customer Service in ARMAS.
- Technicians must maintain a physical presence at the front desk for student / staff / faculty check-in.
- Tutoring students in Math or General Chemistry.
- Assisting in ARMAS events (planning, execution, clean up).
- Planning student – led activities (three per semester).
- General upkeep of the ARMAS Center.
Specific Duties ARMAS Center Technicians are role models to NMHU students and are representatives of ARMAS and the university. Technicians will greet students visiting the ARMAS Center and assist students in accessing ARMAS resources. Technicians ensure all students / staff / faculty check-in to the ARMAS Center at each visit. Additionally, every ARMAS Technician will be available to tutor students in Math or General Chemistry. Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled NMHU student.Overall GPA of or better.Ability to tutor in Math or General Chemistry.Demonstrate good interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to commit 20 hours per week to the job and attend weekly meetings and training sessions.Must serve as ARMAS / Science Fair Staff for the NE Regional Science Fair February 28 – March 2, 2025.MUST ATTEND MANDATORY ARMAS EMPLOYEE Meetings.Preferred Qualifications
