Job Summary :
We are seeking skilled Data Center Technician IIs and Lead Technicians to support the installation, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling and fiber infrastructure on high-profile commercial and government projects across the country . This is a % national travel role , requiring flexibility and availability to work on out-of-state assignments for extended periods. The position involves hands-on work with fiber and copper systems, while Lead-level candidates will also manage teams, coordinate with clients, and drive project success. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, safety-focused, and ready to grow within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Job Responsibilities :
Technical Work (All Levels)
Install and dress fiber and copper cable infrastructure in mission-critical data center environments
Terminate Cat 5, Cat 6, and fiber cabling (Single-Mode, Multi-Mode, LC, ST, SC, SC-APC)
Perform fusion and ribbon splicing using standard fiber splicing equipment
Execute Fluke and OTDR testing and document results
Troubleshoot and repair fiber and copper systems
Rack and stack customer equipment, including server rack buildouts and elevations
Install ladder racks, cable trays, fiber trays, cabinets, and power trays
Assist in material receiving, staging, and hardware assembly
Read and follow blueprints, MOPs, and installation instructions accurately
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant job sites while following OSHA and company safety protocols
Communicate clearly with teammates, project managers, and site supervisors
Lead Responsibilities (for Lead Technicians) :
Manage technician teams on large-scale commercial and data center projects
Delegate tasks and oversee completion of scope of work
Serve as the point of contact for GC / client coordination
Conduct on-site safety meetings and enforce safety compliance
Track labor needs and adjust forecasts as needed
Submit material orders and change orders to Project Manager
Review and mark up blueprint changes in real-time
Job Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED required
25 years of experience in structured cabling, low voltage, or data center environments
25 years of fiber experience, including splicing (for Leads)
Prior experience managing large crews (10 technicians) for Lead roles
OSHA 10 certification preferred or ability to obtain before deployment
Must be open and available for % national travel with extended stays as needed
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move items up to 75 lbs.; must be able to stand or walk for full shifts
Must bring basic hand tools : multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose and channel lock pliers, punch tool, flashlight, steel / composite toe boots, gloves, and tool pouch
