SUMMARY :
Assess and treat persons with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. May select alternative communication systems and teach their use. May perform research related to speech and language problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Responsibilities to Resident / Patients / Clients
Monitor Residents / patients / clients progress and adjust treatments accordingly.Evaluate hearing and speech / language test results and medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, voice and swallowing disorders.Record information on evaluations, treatments, progress and discharge of residents / patients / clients.Consult with and advise rehab / nursing staff and family members on strategies for speech and language stimulation.Instruct residents / patients / clients and staff in more effective communication for all concerned.Teach residents / patients / clients to control or strengthen tongue, jaw, face muscles, and breathing mechanisms.Develop speech exercise programs to reduce disabilities.Record Keeping / Training Opportunities
Complete and maintain necessary records.Evaluate resident / outpatient progress and prepare reports that detail progress.Provide training and supervision in therapy techniques, and objectives for nursing and non-nursing staff within the facility.Advise on health risks in the workplace.Safety
Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United.Identifies, reports, and / or corrects obvious safety hazards.Attends mandatory safety in-services.Mission / Customer Service

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum Requirements
Must be a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Montana.
