Position Summary

The Project Test Engineer (ENG 3) applies advanced knowledge of testing and systems engineering to the project under the guidance of a staff or principle engineer per Oceaneering Technology’s Standard Approach to Testing. Effective application of verification and validation techniques for test and demonstration requirements is expected.

The Project Test Engineer will primarily generate test plans and procedures, lead test efforts locally and in the field, support engineering and design test-related activities, and lead small teams of multi-disciplined engineers, technicians, and field engineers. Professional interaction with customers or clients can be expected on a frequent basis.

Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL :

  • Performs analysis of user requirements, concept of operations (CONOP) documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system testing requirements.
  • Guide project system test development and implementation planning through preparation of project-specific test and evaluation master plans (TEMPs), test plans and procedures, and requirement verification traceability matrices (RVTMs).
  • Displays excellent technical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to take a wholistic approach to system design.
  • Reviews progress and evaluates results of work accomplished by self and others.
  • Prepares reports and presents results to management and client.
  • Some travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL :

  • Participation in and contribution to Test Engineering Departmental meetings.
  • Infrequent use of basic hand tools and setup of instrumentation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering. Other relevant technical BS degrees considered.
  • 5 to 12 years of practical experience in Systems Engineering including the following : Contributing to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation including TEMPs, test plans and procedures, test readiness reviews, and RVTMs.Managing system test requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that meet system requirement.Leading test events
  • Candidate will perform in an ISO-9000 company with a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
  • US citizenship is required. Minimum ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • PREFERRED :

  • Master’s degree or certification in systems engineering.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance with CI polygraph.
  • Experience with US DoD.
  • SKILLS : REQUIRED :

  • Proficiency with Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics for complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Broad understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software test methods.
  • Working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems.
  • PREFERRED :

  • Working knowledge of systems centered software such as Cradle, Cameo, SysML, DOORS, ModelCenter, or equivalent software.
  • Strong working knowledge of metrology, statistics, design of experiments, and data acquisition and analysis.
