job_description.job_card.job_descriptionWork in both ICU and PCU / Telemetry units in a hospital setting Equal split between ICU and PCU / Tele patient care responsibilities ICU has 12 beds with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2 and 3-4 for borders PCU / Tele unit has 36 beds (20 semi-private rooms) with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 for both days and nights Patient populations include CHF, stroke, sepsis, cardiac dysrhythmias, pneumonia, diabetes, respiratory issues, AKI, CKI, post bariatric surgery, tPA, overdose, and high flow oxygen cases RNs are expected to manage vents, drips (including vasopressors, sedation, and more), and stroke patients using NIHSS Cardiac rhythm interpretation is required in PCU / Tele Uses Servo ventilators; RT available but not always stationed in ICU Travelers are first to float and may take up to 4 patients per assignment 12-hour day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No on-call or major holiday coverage required Unit-specific orientation includes 2 to 3 shifts with a preceptor Navy blue scrubs required RNs provide comprehensive care for a diverse population with critical and progressive care needs Experience in charge and precepting roles is strongly preferred Charge RN is always present and typically does not have a patient assignment Team approach with free floating resource nurse support per shift Holiday coverage is not required for this position New travel nurses are not being considered; prior travel experience is mandatory Active VA or compact RN license required Current BLS, ACLS (both AHA), and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent experience in both ICU and PCU / Tele required Prior travel nursing experience required Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms is required Demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients using NIHSS Ability to manage and titrate common ICU drips (vasopressors, antihypertensives, sedatives, etc.) Comfort with ventilators, high flow, BiPap, and related respiratory equipment High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
