Job Description
Purpose of Position :
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of basic and routine respiratory supportive functions.
Examples of Typical Tasks :
1. May assist Respiratory Therapy Technician and / or Respiratory Therapist in assembling pressure devices such as intermittent pressure breathing apparatus, expiratory pressure masks, respirators, resuscitators and portable equipment and suction machines.
2. Dismantles and sterilizes respiratory therapy equipment, and dries, assembles and packages sterile equipment.
3. Performs selected tasks in use, maintenance and adjustment of equipment.
4. Delivers equipment to patient units. Prepares and tests equipment for safe operation.
5. May assist Respiratory Therapy Technician and / or Respiratory Therapist in preparing and positioning patients for treatment as directed.
6. Assists in preparation of records and reports as directed.
7. Performs related work.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School graduation or High School Equivalency Diploma, plus one year as a Nurse's Aide or related capacity; or,
2. Satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
