Senior Backend Developer

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Pioneering Evolution is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to design and implement secure, high-performance backend services for a mission-critical federal software platform. This role plays a key part in shaping scalable and auditable backend systems that align with government compliance, security, and performance standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with technical leads and cross-functional teams to deliver robust service architectures while mentoring junior developers in secure software engineering practices. Other key responsibilities include :

Design and develop scalable and secure APIs and backend services using ASP.NET Core.

Collaborate with frontend, data, and DevSecOps teams to support full-stack solutions and system integration.

Lead code reviews and promote the adoption of secure coding standards and engineering best practices.

Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and stability.

Support CI / CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and deployment processes for backend components.

Contribute to architectural and technical planning sessions to align system design with business and compliance goals.

Ensure audit-readiness and data traceability across all backend implementations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 7 years of backend development experience with strong expertise in ASP.NET Core.

Proven experience in developing scalable RESTful APIs and integrating secure backend services.

Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and experience mentoring junior developers.

Must be available to work full-time and on-site in the Washington D.C. metro area.

U.S. Citizenship and active Secret Clearance are required.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE :

Experience building and maintaining secure, audit-ready systems for federal or financial domains.

Familiarity with cloud-native development, containerized environments (e.g., Docker), and orchestration platforms.

Understanding of DevSecOps principles, data governance, and industry compliance standards.
