The Distribution Planning Engineer (Staff I or II) will work closely with the ENER-I software development team to design, test, and validate platform capabilities and applications. This will involve computer modeling, analyses, reporting, and presentations related to various elements of distribution systems. Such analyses include but are not limited to : timeseries optimal distribution power flow, cost-benefit and alternatives analysis, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection applications, and DER system impact studies.
The Distribution Planning Engineer will also engage with ENER-i users and clients for tasks such as : initial system setup and configuration, data transfer, client model validation, user training, study-specific setup and configuration, new functionality requests and resulting action items, progress updates via presentation or report, and perform and deliver ENER-i based distribution planning studies.

The ENER-i team is seeking a highly motivated Software Power Systems Engineer who is willing to push the boundaries of what has traditionally been Distribution Planning and introduce the field into the modern era. Successful candidates will : work with multi-faceted teams from various technical backgrounds, display excellent communication skills, particularly pertaining to complex engineering topics, quickly learn new skills and tools, and employ multi-disciplinary concepts across engineering, power systems, statistics, and software to create cutting-edge applications.
Responsibilities
How you can make an impact :
Provide support to ENER-I team on electrical theory, distribution planning problem-solving, and other technical subject matters.
Perform classic distribution planning studies with ENER-i and provide feedback to identify gaps, issues to enable the platform to perform studies including load growth projections based on historical trends, power flow studies, planning criteria mitigation studies, and alternative analysis.
Support customer engagement by providing technical insight. Understand data requirements, acquiring and setting customer data within the system.
Develop Python scripts, applications, and visual reports that communicate results and intelligence.
Work with ENER-i Development team to evolve the product.
Process, generate, and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.

Location : This position is ideally based in Austin, TX, but remote work within the US may be considered for highly qualified candidates
