Full-Time Occupational Therapy Technician

Location : Frisco - Ambulatory Surgical Center
40 hours per week. 8-6 M-Th.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Participates in assigned responsibilities by the supervising therapist to provide services as specified in the therapy plan of care within the scope of on-the-job training with supervision by a PT, PTA, OT, or OTA who is on the premises and readily available to respond in person
- Communicates with supervising PT and / or OT, the response of patients / families and motivates the patient / family to follow treatment regimens at home.
- Obtains data related to the interventions provided.
A Therapy Technician I may not :
Perform any evaluative or assessment activities;Initiate physical or occupational therapy treatment, to include exercise instruction; orWrite or sign physical or occupational therapy documents in the permanent record, except to enter quantitative data for tasks delegated by the supervising PT or OT.Required Skills / Abilities
High School education or equivalentCertification in BLS.Preferred experience in working with children with disabilities or a therapy settingPreferred candidates have an associate's or bachelor's degree in exercise studies / science or kinesiology. The ideal candidate is taking a gap year between undergrad and graduate studies for allied health professions (PT, OT, PTA)Working Environment
Working conditions : both inside and outside.Working Position : sitting, standing, and walking.Physical Demands : heavy.Physical Requirements : lifting / carrying, pushing / pulling, crawling, repetitive movement, stooping / kneeling / bending, climbing, balancing.An Individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in this group : 35-50 lbs.Sensory / Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position : feeling, hearing, seeing, speaking.An Individual in this position will be exposed to : inside / outside environment, bloodborne pathogens, loud noise, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards.
