The Information Technology team at the City of Irvine is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Unified Communications Engineer to join a high-performing team dedicated to delivering reliable and secure communication services across all City departments. This role will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and maintenance of telephony, collaboration, and audio-visual systems, including Microsoft Teams, AWS Connect, AudioCodes SBCs, Cisco cloud telephony, Zoom, digital signage, and conference room technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in unified communications engineering, project leadership, and vendor management, with a focus on ensuring seamless collaboration, operational resilience, and compliance with public safety requirements. This position requires excellent technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and public safety stakeholders. The Unified Communications Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that City staff, leadership, and public safety teams have the tools and technologies they need to serve the community effectively.

Your Impact

• Administer and support unified communications platforms including Microsoft Teams, AWS Connect, Cisco hosted telephony, AudioCodes SBCs, and Zoom.
• Oversee and enhance conference room AV systems, ensuring reliable performance for meetings, collaboration, and public engagement.
• Administer the Police Department's phone recording system, ensuring compliance, reliability, and secure retention of records.
• Lead UC buildouts for new City facilities, coordinating design, vendor engagement, and implementation.
• Guide upgrade and replacement projects that modernize the City's UC infrastructure.
• Partner with leadership to support budgeting, licensing, and vendor contract management.
• Collaborate with IT, networking, and security teams to ensure communications are resilient, secure, and accessible to all departments.
