Senior Fire Protection Designer

Summary :

As a Senior Fire Protection Designer in the Fire Protection Industry, you will develop fire suppression and detection system plans for a variety of projects, and oversee projects from inception to completion. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, management skills, and a solid understanding of fire protection standards and codes. The individual in this role will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while managing a team of design subcontractors, engineers, and technicians.

Responsibilities :

1. Project Management :

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all phases of fire system projects, from inception through completion.
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and team members to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks, timelines, and milestones using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure strict adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and standards.
  • Monitor project progress, adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines and specifications.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the quality and timeliness of their work.

2. Communication :

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring communication is open and effective throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns during the project promptly.
  • Prepare and present reports on project progress, costs, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • 3. Estimation and Bidding :

  • Help estimators with project scopes and code questions.
  • Offer design support, assist with material takeoffs, and cost estimation for system components.
  • 4. Technical and Field Support :

  • Provide technical advice and support to clients and the project team regarding system design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Stay abreast of the latest fire protection technologies and practices to recommend improvements and innovations.
  • 5. Safety and Compliance :

  • Enforce a culture of safety among project teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to fire protection systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of project sites to ensure compliance and promptly address violations.
  • 6. Miscellaneous Tasks :

  • Travel to project sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certification are a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in fire protection design required.
  • NICET III certification is a must.
  • Strong understanding of fire codes and standards.
  • Proficient in autocad, autosprink, hydracad, and BIM modeling
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with basic office equipment and technology.
  • Reliable and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
