Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will utilize AutoCAD to prepare soil boring location plans, conduct laboratory testing for soils and construction materials, and provide recommendations to drilling crews and field technicians. This role requires both office and field work, ensuring a diverse and engaging work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare soil boring location plans using AutoCAD.
  • Conduct laboratory testing for soils and construction materials.
  • Utilize Trimble GPS for laying out soil boring / core locations.
  • Provide recommendations and advice to drilling crews and field technicians.
  • Write detailed reports on geotechnical findings and construction materials testing.
  • Conduct site layouts and soil classification.
  • Perform field visits for site assessments and data collection.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering and soil boring.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of construction materials testing and site layout.
  • Familiarity with Trimble GPS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain EIT certification and PE license in the future.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Geotechnical coursework or soil knowledge.
  • Experience in government, IDOT, municipal, residential, and warehouse facility projects.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Ability to be in the field for occasional site visits.
  • Work Environment

    This position involves a mix of office and field work, with approximately 70-80% of the time spent in the office and 20-30% in the field. Office work includes report writing, soil log drafting using AutoCAD, and collaborating with a geotechnical team. Field work involves drill oversight and surveying with Trimble GPS. The work hours are from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday to Friday.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65 / hr.
