Norfolk Collegiate School is seeking an energetic and strategic Associate Director of Development and Alumni Engagement to join our Advancement Office. This full-time position reports to the Assistant Head for Advancement and is responsible for developing and implementing robust annual giving programs and dynamic alumni engagement initiatives.

The Associate Director inspires meaningful relationships within the Norfolk Collegiate community-fostering a culture of philanthropy and service among current families, alumni, and other supporters. This includes managing a multi-channel annual giving campaign, coordinating alumni events, supporting major gift efforts, and serving as the primary liaison to the Norfolk Collegiate Alumni Board of Directors.

This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a creative and proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will bring experience in fundraising or alumni relations, enthusiasm for working with volunteers, and a commitment to advancing the mission of Norfolk Collegiate.

Key Responsibilities :

Annual Giving & Fundraising

  • Lead the design and execution of communication materials and strategies to support annual giving.
  • Partner with school leadership and the Assistant Head for Advancement to highlight giving opportunities and build fundraising cases.
  • Support major gift initiatives by coordinating stewardship and solicitation efforts.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design giving campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Cultivate and steward annual donors; support major fundraising events and initiatives such as the Day of Giving.
  • Grow leadership annual giving through strategic outreach and storytelling.

Alumni Engagement

  • Develop and manage alumni engagement plans, events, and communications.
  • Lead reunion planning and alumni components of the Day of Giving.
  • Manage the Jefferson Challenge student giving program.
  • Plan and execute alumni events in Hampton Roads and other key regions.
  • Oversee all alumni-related communications and work closely with the marketing team to ensure consistent outreach.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Alumni Board of Directors.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum of three years' experience in annual giving, alumni engagement, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices in independent schools or nonprofits.
  • Strong communication and project management skills; ability to build relationships and inspire others.
  • Proficiency with fundraising and CRM software; Raiser's Edge experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends and to travel for events as needed.
