Position Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating of construction operations, purchases, financial reporting and project control activities for a designated electrical project or an assigned portfolio of concurrent electrical projects from start-up to closeout. Ensure the work is performed within a pre-scheduled budget and manages project performance to meet or exceed prescribed goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain job cost control, which will be reported monthly.
  • Responsible for accurate project projections / forecasts and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Ensure timely project billings & collections to maintain financial health of projects.
  • Coordinate with Estimating team on bid turnover and project startup processes.
  • Complete job setup, including entering project budgets in accounting software.
  • Perform plan and specification analysis for clear interpretation of construction documents.
  • Assist in project personnel coordination to ensure timely and budget-compliant progress.
  • Develop submittals / shop drawings, manage material procurement, and address supply chain issues.
  • Prepare reports, studies, and statistical analyses as requested.
  • Plan work schedules, project manpower needs, and manage QA / QC on projects.
  • Handle subcontracts, POs, and review subcontractor payments.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, project scheduling, and cost control.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and problem resolution.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors, customers, and trade partners.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Mentors and develops field team members while effectively managing the overall team

May act as a liaison for company and employee communication

Monitors and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals

Attends periodic meetings with staff and management as necessary

Interviews, selects, trains, assigns, monitors, and reviews the activities of all assigned personnel

Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work

Monitors, ensures and oversees work quality

Handles employee grievances and emergencies; maintains harmonious employee relations. Counsels and coaches employees, develops performance appraisals, conducts reviews and provides resources to assist employees to improve and maximize performance

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes and maintains the effectiveness and reputation of the organization

Promotes strategic and generative discussions; attends meetings as required

Creates correspondence, reports, and communication material as needed

Elicits cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including vendors, subcontractors and other internal departments

Consistently contributes to the growth of the customer base

Effectively manages difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to staff needs; solicits feedback to improve projects, responds promptly and effectively to concerns / issues and develops and communicates prompt solutions; solicits appropriate advisory assistance as applicable

Through formal and informal training, continues development of personal and professional skills

Strives for 100% customer and program satisfaction; communicates clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and seeks clarification

Follows through on all actions to ensure 100% deadline compliance

Consistently meets and / or exceeds sales and productivity goals

Works closely with the senior management team, and other key personnel and contacts for seamless integration of responsibilities and functions

Solicits internal guidance and information to promote internal initiatives and special events

All other duties as assigned for the successful execution and / or completion of various projects whether or not specifically assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience preparing take-offs and estimates for change orders.
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • OSHA-30 certification (or willingness to obtain within six months of hire).
  • Travel Requirements : Up to 25%
  • Must have knowledge of the NEC
  • Some electrical installation field experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate objectives, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
  • Outstanding technical and analytical skill
  • Excellent decision making / problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent scheduling and time management skills
  • Ability to motivate and create cohesive work teams
  • Advanced knowledge of construction estimating software programs & Bluebeam
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background, and reference check
  • Must possess valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules as needed including overtime and weekends

  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships
  • Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

  • 2+ years of construction technology, electrical engineering, or construction science degree (or equivalent training / experience).
  • 4+ years of electrical construction experience, including assistant project management.
  • Proficiency with NEC
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Clean driving, drug screen and background records at all times
