About the Role
The State of Connecticut (CT) is seeking a Digital Accessibility Web Developer with deep experience in remediating accessibility issues across a wide range of platforms and technologies. You will partner closely with our accessibility testers and analysts to turn accessibility audit findings into fully remediated digital experiences that meet or exceed compliance standards.
The ideal candidate will have expert-level experience remediating accessibility barriers in CMS systems such as Sitecore, Salesforce, and custom web applications (HTML / ARIA / CSS / JavaScript), as well as working knowledge of AWS services, Biznet platforms, and enterprise databases.
You will be hands-on in HTML and accessibility markup remediation, working primarily within the State’s CMS platforms and custom HTML environments. You'll partner with digital accessibility testers to review audit findings and make front end code corrections to ensure WCAG AA compliance.
You’ll work across multiple agency systems - including websites, portals, forms, applications, and content databases - to implement accessible design, correct violations, and ensure usability for all. You will also serve as an expert resource for teams with questions about applying WCAG AA in a technical context.
This is a remediation-heavy role. The majority of your work will involve directly correcting HTML code, markup, or CSS. You will work iteratively with cross-functional teams in agile sprints and respond quickly to prioritized accessibility tickets.

Administrative Considerations
The Digital Accessibility Web Developer will work as part of the State of CT’s Digital Accessibility team and will be embedded in agile sprints with testers, project managers, and agency content or engineering teams. Work will be assigned based on items in the product backlog associated with digital asset Improvements. These tasks may be adjusted, reduced, or expanded as the project progresses through various phases. The contract employee shall be expected to maintain and provide written documentation on any work performed in conjunction with this engagement.
The engagement will be for a term of up to months. All work will be performed in eight () hour shifts, Monday to Friday, excluding State holidays. If workflow dictates an on-site presence is not needed, consultant may work remotely. Payment will be on a time and material basis and paid only for hours worked. State Agencies are in downtown Hartford and the Greater Hartford area. Local Travel Reimbursement is not provided.
Use of State Resources : The contractor will be provided with a virtual desktop environment that will allow the contractor to use their own computer to access and engage with State systems.
Security / Privacy Considerations : Information accessible by the contractor may be sensitive, confidential or subject to the Privacy Act and / or HIPAA considerations. Contractor personnel must be familiar with and comply with the provisions of appropriate regulations and / or instructions. Signing of a confidentiality agreement will be required. Daily sign-in to the facility may be required. The contractor employee must always display an access badge while present in state facilities. A background check will be required.
