Assistant Director, Business Office
Under direction of the Director, Revenue Cycle, the Assistant Director, Business Office oversees the daily operations of the hospital's business office functions, including ensuring the timely and accurate completion of billing, collections, and more. This role develops and implements policies and procedures that support TMMC's mission, vision, and values, while promoting a positive patient financial experience. The Assistant Director, Business Office leads the team to ensure all functions are completed in a timely and compliant manner and monitors departmental performance to make sure productivity and quality standards are consistently being met. This role will facilitate process improvement events, coach / mentor staff development and advance the lean culture.
Core competencies include directing, administering, and recommending policies for all operations, programs, and activities related to the hospital patient financial services. The role also oversees the timely completion of all essential business office functions, including billing, collections, cash posting, and accounts receivable management; investigates and addresses inefficiencies. Additionally, it involves monitoring work queues to ensure that accounts are being followed up on a timely basis, prioritizing job functions to meet deadlines, and identifying any issues. The Assistant Director, Business Office reviews aged and high-balance accounts on a regular basis and provides direction to management and staff on how to resolve difficult accounts. It also monitors staff productivity and performance, compares results to established goals, and makes recommendations for improvement. The role develops, monitors, coaches, and manages managers, builds employee morale and motivation, and fosters a team-like environment. It coordinates with other departments, analyzes data, prepares monthly reports, responds to complaints / concerns, and serves as a liaison to internal departments and external parties. It pinpoints improvement opportunities, contributes to the testing of system modifications, builds relationships with business partners, drives continuous improvement activities, evaluates vendors and technological solutions, coordinates and monitors the performance of outside agencies, assists in developing the annual budget, monitors expenditures, ensures compliance with regulations, and acts as a role model.
Department specific competencies include answering the telephone courteously, serving as the point person for the department, maintaining advanced knowledge of payer-specific billing, claims processing requirements, payer regulations, and payer best practices.
Education : Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or related field.
Experience : 5 years in business office or revenue cycle, 3 years in management experience.
Compensation Range : $105,000 - $181,000 / Salary
