Unit Overview :

Cath Lab : 11 of 15 total labs (Cath Lab, EP, Hybrid); travelers will only work in Cath Lab

Fast-paced, high-acuity; 24–40 adult cases / day

Cases : Diagnostic & interventional Cath Lab, RHC / LHC, STEMI / NSTEMI, CTO, valvuloplasty, Cardiomems, biopsies, atherectomies, staged PCI, IABP, Impella, ECMO (preferred), peripheral diagnostic / interventional, some fistulograms

Hybrid (preferred experience) : AAA grafts, thoracic grafts, TAVRs, Watchman

Patient Ratios : 1 : 1

Experience Required : 3 years (first-time travelers not accepted)

Certifications :

RN : BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred

RTR : BLS, ACLS, WI License; RCIS preferred

Skills :

RN : Cath Lab & peripheral procedures, conscious sedation, drip titration / management

RTR : Cath Lab & peripheral procedures, scrubbing, panning

Hybrid experience preferred but not required

Support Staff :

Housekeeping : room turnover

Supply staff : stock rooms

Transporter : 06 : 30–20 : 00

Receptionist / HUC : 06 : 00–20 : 00

Charge Nurse / Lead Tech : minimal case involvement

RT : 24 / 7, manages vents if needed

Hospitalist : 24 / 7

Cardiology : 24 / 7

Critical Response Team : for codes

Equipment / Charting :

EMR : EPIC

Alaris, Pyxis

C-Arms : GE

Additional : Volcano, St. Jude, Alphavac, Angiovac, EKOS, Anari (experience not required)

Hemodynamic : GE Pruka (Maclab)

PACS : Fuji, ProSolv

IABP : Maquet

Scheduling & Orientation :

Orientation : 1 week

Shifts : 8- or 12-hour shifts, staffed 24 / 7

Weekend rotation : occasional weekends, usually call

Weekday call : 12 : 00–20 : 30; end-of-shift to 06 : 00 next day

Call : 7 consecutive days every 2–3 months (may not be all 7 days)

Response time : 30 minutes

Time off : 7 days, approval required

Holiday coverage : as needed

Fatigue policy : max 60 hours / week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
