The ideal candidate has heavy civil construction experience including earthwork, paving, underground utilities and concrete work. We work in both the private and public sectors and having experience in both is preferred. This role works closely with the VP of Estimating to estimate and deliver quality bids on perspective projects in the Bay Area. The position also collaborates closely with the field operations experts as well as takeoff engineers, and senior estimators on the team. The vision of the organization is to build great projects for the community in which we live and work, while giving back to the community and treating each other with respect. The Estimator plays a key role in partnering with our local owners, clients, subcontractor, and suppliers to deliver legendary results.

  • Be able to prepare complete and timely estimates for assigned project(s) of medium to large size and complexity immediately.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Prepare complete estimates, which includes performing a thorough review of the takeoff materials as provided by experienced take-off engineers.
  • Coordinate the total estimating effort by the estimating team relevant to the bids / projects that are assigned.
  • Interface with owners, A / E’s, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project budgets and feasibility timely.
  • Provide engineering and estimating support on awarded contracts as assigned – including job start-up and in-house preparation meetings.\Communicate with all levels of team members, and elevate matter appropriately to management according to specific SOP guidelines is essential.

With strong communication, ability to follow laid out operating procedures, and great computer skills (Computer estimating skills are a must, including HCSS Heavybid, Bluebeam, and AGTEK) you will succeed in this role

  • The ideal candidate will posses;
  • Education and experience requirements that include : 4-year construction management or engineering degree plus 5-7 years technical training and / or experience.
  • Computer estimating skills are a must, including HCSS Heavybid, Bluebeam, and AGTEK.
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
  • All candidates should have knowledge of private, City, Caltrans and Airport specifications, with proven track record of bringing in contracts on time and on budget
