Electric Distribution Designer
An intermediate level job within the Electric Distribution Designer progression. Provides the incumbent with experience and training necessary for advancement to the Electric Distribution Designer 1 level. Duties include field and design work associated with construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company's electrical distribution system. Ability to effectively work and communicate with people at all levels both internal and external to the Company. Primary duties include : Performing or assisting within the limits of ability and experience the duties contained in the job description entitled Electric Distribution Designer 1 with limited supervision. Designing and writing projects, providing the necessary details to ensure timely scheduling and completion of work. Maintains a working knowledge and adherence to the rules and provisions of company environmental policies, Design Standards, and Safety Manual in the design of facilities. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure the proper design and efficient coordination of information for distribution projects. Providing accurate and timely cost estimates and designs for new Residential and Commercial / Industrial services, relocations, and upgrade projects. Prepares designs and supporting documentation for additions and changes to the Company electric system. Actively participating in the weekly AWC Planning and Scheduling meetings. Having storm restoration and emergency restoration assignments. Listening to and understanding the customer (both internal and external); anticipating customer needs; giving high priority to customer satisfaction. Preparing documentation for GIS map update process. Monitoring and providing accurate need dates for all ongoing assigned projects. Providing timely response and follow-up to customer and contractor inquiries. Assisting in the training of Electric Distribution Designers in progression. Education, experience, skills, and abilities : Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Electricity or similar program, or 2 years of combined education and related experience. Experience - Successful completion of on-the job training of an Electric Distribution Designer 3 which normally takes 18 months, or equivalent level of related work experience. (A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology meets the experience requirement) Knowledge of electrical and construction nomenclature equipment and procedures. Capable of accurately interpreting blueprints and company circuit maps. Effective written and oral communication skills. Effective computer skills. Must successfully pass the EEI Tech Test. Knowledge of National Electric Code as it pertains to Eversource service requirements. Knowledge of the National Electric Code as it pertains to service installations and customer requirements, and knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code as it pertains to the Eversource distribution system. Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and practices as they relate to the Eversource accounting system, customer service programs, rates, and work management systems, and other software. Knowledge and a complete understanding of joint-use agreements involving other utility companies. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license. The salary range for this position starts at $40.38 / hourly and progresses in accordance with the union contract. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
