The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4b.
The Chocolate Bayou Site is located in Southeastern Texas about 40 miles South of Houston and consists of two Olefins units that produce approximately 4bn pounds / year of ethylene, 2 Polypropylene units that produce approximately 1bn pounds / year of polypropylene, and the Light Ends storage & transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge.
The Chocolate Bayou site has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated and skilled Process Control Engineer. This position will provide technical leadership in pursuit of INEOS and site goals by working to support the Olefins C3 operations group and resource team at the Chocolate Bayou Olefins units.
How the Role Fits In
The process control engineer will be responsible to support day-to-day operation of the Distributed Control System (DCS) to optimize and enable safe operation of the assets. This position is a member of the Polymers Resource Team in support of both the PP3 and PP4 polymers units. In this responsibility the process control engineer will interface with a multidiscipline team in order to support control applications and technologies in the Polymers area.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles. Additionally, this position has a special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles throughout their work group.
Troubleshoot process, process alarm, DCS and process control network issues
Identify and champion ways to create value
I / O assignment and redundancy
Participate in HAZOPs and LOPA studies as needed
Assess emerging technologies of interest, both within and beyond area of specialization
Education AND Experience
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application of Honeywell DCS control technology, will have experience in Polymers, petrochemicals manufacturing processes or similar processes, and will have experience with other multivariable control technologies.
In general, qualified candidates should possess a technical degree, demonstrate expertise in advanced process control, and have at least one year of relevant experience. Preference will be given to those with five or more years of experience supporting unit operations within olefins, polyolefins, or comparable process industries.
