Job Title : Claims Expediter

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for courteously and effectively being the first contact point for agents, policyholders,

claimants, vendors and others that are communicating with the claims department. In addition, this

position serves a support role to the adjusting process to ensure the prompt, fair and equitable resolution

of claims.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional customer service by either answering customer inquiries if possible or routing

incoming telephone calls to the appropriate departmental personnel for handling.

  • Process incoming mail and faxes and prepare all documents for the scanning process.
  • Index mail through the ImageRight system to ensure it is electronically delivered to the
  • appropriate claim and adjuster.

  • Identify new reports of claims, route to appropriate manager for reserve and set up new claims in
  • the ImageRight and claims automation systems.

  • Timely and accurately enter check information to pay independent adjusters and attorneys.
  • Obtain tax I.D. information on appropriate entities and maintain the tax I.D. database.
  • Maintain and destroy scanned paper documents according to established guidelines.
  • Process drafts from independent adjuster TPA’s.
  • Process monthly billing payments to vendors such as Safelite and CompTech through the
  • Finance system.

  • Process police reports when requested.
  • Assemble certified copies of policies when requested.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Needs to be proficient in mathematics.
  • Must have the ability to access, input and retrieve information from a computer and have sufficient

  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must have physical ability to walk, lift, bend and be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department
  • staff members.

    EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

    List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Insurance-related coursework, previous customer service or clerical experience is desired.
