POSITION SUMMARY :

The Early Learning CQI Specialist supports the continuous quality improvement systems within the Akin early learning team (Head Start, Early Head Start, Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships, & ECEAP) programs. This role ensures that services meet federal and state performance standards, organizational goals, and promote the best outcomes for children and families. The CQI Specialist gathers and uses data analysis, monitors implementation, and works collaboratively with program staff to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Program Planning & Self-Assessment :

  • Lead the annual self-assessment, community assessment, and program planning process.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize areas for improvement and set program goals across service areas (e.g. education, health, family engagement, disabilities).
  • Lead CQI activities, such as Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Barries (TOWS) Analysis, Data walks, roots cause analysis, and other improvement methodologies.

Quality Assurance & Compliance :

  • Monitor program operations to ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), state licensing requirements, and agency policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program corrective action plans and quality improvement plans.
  • Data Management & Reporting :

  • Maintain, update, and monitor data systems (e.g., ChildPlus, SMARTeach, Readie Rosie, eDECA, ASQ) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate regular program reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders (e.g. PIR, enrollment, attendance, health, family survey).
  • Data Collection & Analysis :

  • Works closely with data analyst to analyze data and identify trends, using these insights to inform continuous quality improvement initiatives and drive program effectiveness.
  • Support staff in the use of data for decision-making and planning.
  • Training & Technical Assistance :

  • In collaboration with Training and Technical Assistance (T / TA) content area lead maintains the T / TA plan and tracking progress.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on CQI tools, data literacy, and compliance.
  • Support professional development activities and communities of practice.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel and other software used by the agency and / or program

  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

  • HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENTS :

    Hybrid work is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace but cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Hybrid work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated experience using Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools such as PDSA cycles, data walks, root cause analysis, and data dashboards to drive program improvement and support data-informed decision-making
  • Experience interpreting data and presenting findings in reports
  • Experience with survey administration
  • Access to a reliable, insured vehicle for work-related travel
  • Proof of physical exam within past 12 months (updated every three years)
  • One-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to start of employment, unless has written proof of a negative test within past 12 months. For those who have previously tested positive, documented proof of treatment from a doctor or a negative chest x-ray must be provided
  • Proof of MMR vaccine or positive MMR titer
  • Completion of Akin and DCYF criminal history background check, including registry with MERIT to include fingerprinting.
  • A valid driver's license and a favorable driving record, with no more than three violations within the past three years
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • At least 3 years of experience in early childhood programs, preferably including Head Start and ECEAP
  • Experience with Strong analytical, organizational, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in ChildPlus, Teaching Strategies Gold, web-based versions of the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) and Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ)
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g. Canva, Piktochart)
  • Experience with web-based survey systems (e.g. Alchemer, Survey Monkey, Microsoft Office Forms)
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).
  • SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS :

    We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive pay, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position.

    The target starting pay for this position is $32.28 -$38.74, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account.

    The range above allows our employees room for growth during their tenure in the position.
