Position Summary
Performs high quality vascular ultrasound procedures that require ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment on patients. Performs Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI's with and without exercise), carotid and abdominal aorta duplex scans, upper and lower extremity arterial & venous scans (Doppler and imaging) and groin scans. Follows department policies and protocols.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Specializes in performing cardiac ultrasound diagnostic studies.
- Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
- Operates and maintains all assigned ultrasound scanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
- Positions patients, selects appropriate transducers and machine settings and conducts scanning procedures to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
- Completes quality assurance processes and practices. Complies with all Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Qualifications : Required :
High school diploma or GEDGraduation from an approved school of medical sonography1.) Registered Vascular Technologist through the (RDMS) American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) OR 2.) a Registered Vascular Sonographer through the (ARRT)American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – RT(VS) OR 3.) Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
