Job Title : Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist (WCAG / ADA / Section 508)

Location : 100% Remote (Candidates must be located within the mainland U.S.)

Work Hours : Standard EST hours

Position Overview

The Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist will identify and remediate accessibility issues in Microsoft Word (.docx) and PDF documents, including fillable court forms , to ensure full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA , Section 508 , and ADA standards. This role requires extensive experience with tagging structure, alt text, reading order, tables, form fields, headings, and screen reader validation . The consultant will work independently and manage a large document workload, ensuring timely and compliant remediation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, audit, test, and remediate Word and PDF documents for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance
• Correct and validate styles, headings, reading / navigation order, lists, links, tables, alt text, and form fields
• Apply correct PDF tagging, logical structure, forms, and labeling for screen reader access
• Ensure compatibility across assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack
• Maintain accurate remediation tracking for assigned documents / forms
• Collaborate with legal, content, and UX teams to ensure consistency and compliance
• Ensure remediated documents pass automated and manual accessibility testing
• Research evolving accessibility regulations and assist in policy interpretation
• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to internal staff on accessible document creation
• Maintain confidential and sensitive information in compliance with judicial standards
