Cost Estimating Engineer / Project Manager

Cadence, Inc. is seeking a Cost Estimating Engineer / Project Manager to join our Virginia team. In this role, you will lead the quoting process by facilitating technical inputs from a cross-functional team, inputting data into cost estimation models for both product manufacturing and engineering services, assembling customer proposals, and leading the cross-functional quote approval process.

Responsibilities
Project Management :
Translate RFQ inputs, sales team feedback, and customer interactions into defined project scopes.Identify information gaps and lead the technical team in documenting assumptions for accurate quoting.Ensure a smooth project kickoff by aligning quote details with execution plans.Coordinate opportunity and proposal review processes, presenting key details in cross-functional meetings.Cost Estimation :
Work with project management, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to scope and develop accurate cost estimates.Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling, to ensure pricing accuracy.Identify and quantify potential cost risks and uncertainties to refine cost models.Assess resource and capacity requirements for production and outsourced processes, initiating capital expenditure estimates when needed.Update costs as necessary based on new information and scope changes.Proposal Creation & Approval :
Document assumptions and create customer-friendly proposals that highlight Cadence’s differentiation and competitive advantages.Lead cross-functional quote reviews, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, finance, and leadership.Adjust costing models as needed based on new insights or customer requirements.Finalize and submit proposals to the sales team for customer submission.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field preferred.Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and understanding GD&T.Technical knowledge of several of the following manufacturing and qualification processes : CNC Machining (Swiss Turning, Laser Cutting, Grinding), Laser Welding, Manual Assembly, Injection Molding, Metal Stamping, Validation Processes, Sterilization, Clean Room Manufacturing.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to challenge assumptions and iterate solutions.Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing is a plus.Basic understanding of cost and project accounting is beneficial.Willingness to work primarily onsite to collaborate with technical teams.Join Cadence and be part of a company that values technical expertise, innovation, and making a real difference in the medical device industry.
