Clinical Pharmacist Acute Care Hospital (13-Week Contract)
Overview
A regional healthcare organization is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to support inpatient pharmacy services within an acute-care hospital setting. The pharmacist will play a key role in optimizing medication therapy collaborating with clinical teams and ensuring regulatory compliance. This contract role is ideal for pharmacists with solid hospital experience who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify prepare and dispense medications for inpatient care areas
- Conduct clinical medication reviews and assess therapy for safety and effectiveness
- Provide pharmacokinetic dosing and therapeutic drug monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and other clinical staff on medication-related decisions
- Participate in patient education and transitions-of-care activities
- Support formulary management and adherence to clinical guidelines
- Respond to stat orders and assist with emergency code situations
- Perform sterile compounding in accordance with USP 797 / 800 standards
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies state regulations and accreditation requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record
- Monitor medication inventory and support automated dispensing cabinet operations
Qualifications
Active unrestricted Pharmacist license (state license for the region required)Recent acute-care or hospital pharmacy experienceStrong knowledge of inpatient pharmacotherapy and clinical guidelinesExperience with major EHR systems preferredCompetency in sterile compounding practicesExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsWork Environment & Schedule
13-week contract assignment; approximately 3640 hours per week within a regional hospital in the southeastern New Mexico area. Shift structure may vary based on departmental needs.
