Key Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or equivalent.CPA preferred, but not required.10+ years accounting experience, with proven track record of financial reporting (monthly close, KPI, and margin management).Experience with Service Titan and / or Intacct is preferred.Track record of successfully integrating a CRM with accounting software and processes.Technical expertise with Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills.Supervisory experience and the ability to interact with and lead others is required.Experience in job costing and departmental accounting preferred.Strong foundation of US GAAP.Ability to meet and manage deadlines, know how to prioritize key stakeholder requests.Led an accounting department.Responsibilities
The Controller’s key responsibilities are financial reporting and management and overseeing the financial activities across two locations. This individual will report directly to the General Manager and indirectly to the Corporate VP of Finance with high visibility to corporate leadership.
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead a growing accounting team across two physical locations with two direct reports.Work seamlessly with operations management team to create a culture of adherence to company policies.Develop, implement, and enforce controls to prevent fraud, manage risk, and ensure financial statement accuracy.Ensure precise codification and classification of financial data within ERP system.Uphold ethical standards and core values.Foster relationships with employees across office and field locations.Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with safety standards.Exercise sound judgment and report misconduct when necessary.Provide analytical support to operations using Excel-based analysis.Support various functions within the organization as required.Operational Process Responsibilities
Safeguard and manage company assets, including inventory, equipment, and vehicles.Implement efficient and robust inventory management practices.Oversee job costing and departmental accounting, ensuring margin management.Hold operations accountable for financial performance.Financial Reporting Responsibilities
Maintain financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP").Develop and maintain detailed accrual schedules and subledger support.Execute an efficient, accurate book closing process.Investigate and rectify financial statement errors and irregularities. Design and implement controls to prevent errors from recurring.Present financial statements and KPIs by the 10th business day of each month.Communicate financial results to management and corporate leadership.Analyze financial variances compared to budget and prior year.Manage internal and external audits.Support the annual budget process.Cash / Treasury Management Responsibilities
Manage cash and treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting.Oversee vendor payments, rebates, and accounts receivable collection.Manage the company credit card program.Compliance / Tax Responsibilities
Manage and oversee local tax filings, ensuring compliance with all local tax regulations and deadlines.Collaborate with our external accounting firm to facilitate federal and state tax filings, providing them with necessary information and documentation.Prepare accurate and timely 1099 reporting.Assist in responding to any tax-related inquiries or audits related to tax filings.Human Resources Responsibilities
Recruit, train, and develop accounting staff as needed.Supervise a multi-location accounting team with varying experience levels.Maintain detailed process and job descriptions for supporting staff.Oversee payroll, ensuring accuracy and security.IT / Systems Responsibilities
Understand ERP systems and extract reports to support KPIs.Continuously assess and enhance systems and processes.Stay updated on technological trends affecting the role.Identify and implement systems and software for critical financial and operational insights.Attributes
