Position Overview
The Home Health Coder & OASIS Reviewer is responsible for accurately coding and reviewing OASIS documentation in accordance with CMS guidelines and agency policies. This role requires expertise in ICD-10 coding, home health regulations, and OASIS-E, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical staff to improve documentation quality and reduce claim denials
Key Responsibilities
- Review OASIS Start of Care (SOC), Recertification, and Discharge documentation for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
- Assign and validate ICD-10 codes to ensure proper reimbursement and regulatory adherence.
- Conduct a dual-level review process (initial coding and final audit) before submission.
- Collaborate with clinicians to clarify documentation and ensure coding reflects the patient’s clinical status and care provided.
- Provide education and feedback to clinical staff to strengthen documentation practices.
- Support agency efforts related to ADRs, PCR, surveys, and OASIS training.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CMS regulations, OASIS-E requirements, and ICD-10 updates.
- Protect patient confidentiality and agency information at all times..
Qualifications
Required :
High school diploma or equivalent.HCS-D certification and OASIS certification, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding for home health.Experience with OASIS review (OASIS-C2 / E preferred).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Preferred :
RN, LPN, or other clinical licensure.Prior experience as a home health coder, reviewer, or QA specialist.Familiarity with Medicare / Medicaid home health regulations.Work Environment & Schedule
