Key Decarbonization and Modeling Engineer performing decarbonization studies, energy audits, commissioning and retro-commissioning services. This includes site visits, greenhouse gas and energy savings analyses using spreadsheets and energy models, costs estimates and report writing.
Key Responsibilities :
Play a key role in performing energy audits (scoping through investment grade), for clients spanning all industries, including commercial, industrial, lab, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher education, and municipal / county government sectorsA comprehensive understanding of common and complex building systemsIdentify and strategically recommend new and innovative energy and carbon reducing measures to meet individual client’s goals and objectivesDevelop decarbonization and electrification strategic plans. Evaluate new and innovative advancements in technologyInventory greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and establish energy and GHG baselines, compare to local and industry thresholdsProficient in performing calculations for existing buildings using energy models and spreadsheets to quantify and report on annual energy / cost savings and GHG reductionsDevelop project cost estimatesDevelop new construction or major renovation energy models to support LEED projects, code compliance or utility energy design assistance programs with knowledge and experience using ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G or IECC as the baselineUtilize our vast array of calibrated testing equipment to perform hands-on commissioning and retro-commissioning field-testing activitiesEvaluate renewable and energy efficiency technologies including solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, micro-cogeneration systems, geothermal heat pumps, biomass systems, and thermal storage systemsPrepare technical reports in a creative manner that reach a vast array of audiencesParticipate in client-facing presentations to disseminate the complex solutions and provide roadmap towards implementationHone your technical, communication, and leadership skillsCoordinate with technical subject matter experts, schedule field engineers and track project budgets to achieve financial metricsFoster effective and positive business relationships both internally and externally within the industryOccasional out of state travel may be expectedRequired Qualifications :
4+ years of experience working on energy, decarbonization and / or sustainability projectsBachelor’s Degree in EngineeringPreferred Qualifications :
2+ years of experience working with EnergyPlus and / or derivations (DesignBuilder, Open Studio)Working experience completing Energy Audits, Retro commissioning projects and / or Commissioning projectsDegree in an Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural or similar)Working knowledge of commercial / industrial HVAC components, systems and distribution, and controlsStrong organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsProficient in Excel, Word & PowerPoint and have a working knowledge of AutoCADCompleted or working toward PE certificationCompleted or working toward CEM, BEMP, CBCP, EBCP and / or other AEE certificationsLI-Hybrid
