Position Purpose : Dispatchers in this position provide shift coverage on a regular basis. Coverage is provided for sick leave, vacation, unassigned shifts, campus emergencies, and numerous other occasions. Essential Functions :
Operate technical devices including computer systems, cameras, radios, and alarm systems inside campus buildings, on-campus lands and in all weather conditions.Interact with belligerent individuals to address complaints and concerns.Apply critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities at a professional level.Uses law enforcement two-way radio systems, and receives emergency calls from the public requesting law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency services.Determine the nature and location of the emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.Receive and process emergency calls, maintain contact with all units on assignment, and maintain the status and location of Public Safety Officers.Monitor direct emergency alarms, and answer non-emergency calls for assistance.Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems.Receives requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records and warrants, and provides pertinent data.Monitors several complex public safety radio frequencies. Operates various communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.Will routinely assist with office tasks and administrative work assignments.Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.Other duties as assigned.Equity and Inclusion

An Administrative Specialist or Administrative Coordinator may provide daily oversight of work. Work is performed independently according to College and department policies. This position may train, assign work, provide priorities and check the work of student assistants, volunteers and hourly employees. This position may be involved with hiring process and orienting staff to procedures. Physical Demands / Working Environment : Dispatchers must be able to sit for extended periods. Will occasionally maneuver in the office area to perform work including counter contacts. Candidates must be able to view, interpret, and record data from a variety of computer, electronic, and equipment displays. Work safely; work on a computer for extended hours. Knowledge Skills and Abilities :
