Under the direction of the Program Administrator within General Legal Services (GLS), the Records Program Administrator (Deputy Administrator) manages both directly and indirectly through subordinate managers and provides oversight to the Central Records Coordination Unit (CRCU) and the Distribution Center (DC), which provide administrative unit support work for the agency, and specifically the Child Protective Services work.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties :

  • Directly and through subordinate managers, directs the day to day operations of CRCU and DC ensuring effective coordination among activities and quality work product. Provides services related to compliance of federal and state requirements, identifying performance improvement opportunities. Analyzes program data and reports to the administrator trends and statistical importance of complex material collected.
  • Assists the Program Administrator with developing and producing recommendations regarding financial, statistical and narrative reports for internal and external purposes as related to the administration's functions. Assists with the management of the Administration's budget, monitors expenditures and determines best utilization of all resources.
  • Provides input into the implementation of the department’s programmatic or strategic activities as they relate to the administration's functions. Participates and leads in discussions of innovative program development, to include establishing work plans and time lines.
  • Assists in developing and implementing departmental procedures. Hires, directs, trains and evaluates the heads of the various units and other employees reporting to this position.
  • Participates and leads in discussions of innovative program development, identifying staffing deficiencies and needs, requests accommodating resources to maintain program functioning and effectiveness.
  • Serves as a member of its Administration's Management Team.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

  • Selective Preference(s) :

    The preferred candidate will have five or more years of managerial experience in one or more of the functions related to the duties of this class. A Master's degree in business or public administration or related field (e.g. social work, public policy, audit) from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.

    Pre-Employment Requirements :

    Requires the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration. Mileage may be reimbursed, if applicable.

    Ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.
