Food Engineering Project Manager

Salad and Go is seeking a Food Engineering Project Manager to play a pivotal role in optimizing and enhancing manufacturing processes in a food production and distribution environment. This role involves designing, evaluating, and improving production systems to increase efficiency, ensure product quality, and reduce costs while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, a hands-on approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead projects across our 2 Central Kitchens (Dallas and Phoenix).

As the Food Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for :

Process Design and Optimization :

  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Develop and implement new processes and technologies to support production efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance and plant Managers to transition new products from development to full-scale production.

Equipment and Systems :

  • Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to design, procure, install, and validate new equipment.
  • Optimize equipment layouts and ensure proper integration of new technologies into existing systems.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Quality and Compliance :

  • Ensure all processes meet food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA) and adhere to industry regulations.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting :

  • Use data-driven approaches to monitor process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, summarizing key metrics and project outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Work closely with production, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to align objectives and resolve operational challenges.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on new processes and equipment.
  • Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 57 years of experience in process engineering, preferably within the food production or distribution industry.
  • Knowledge in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in process simulation software, CAD, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and systems in a high-volume production setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Financial understanding of ROI and Manufacturing costs
  • Project Management certification preferred
