Position Overview

A well-established, multi-entity construction and services organization is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This role is instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely accounting operations, supporting compliance with federal and state regulations, and assisting in financial reporting, payroll, and treasury functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage treasury functions, including cash flow between accounts and entities.
  • Process bank deposits, ensure accurate application of deposits, and manage bank issue uploads and approvals.
  • Prepare required paperwork, reports, and statements for federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Complete confidential weekly payroll in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Manage deferrals into the company’s retirement savings plan.
  • Assist with preparation, monitoring, and communication of monthly and annual operating budgets.
  • Support report building and maintenance using advanced Excel, Crystal Reports, and Power BI.
  • Maintain spreadsheets for financial transactions and expense analysis.
  • Manage the fixed asset schedule, ensuring compliance with GAAP for additions and disposals.
  • Assist with preparation of audit work papers for year-end audits.
  • Support execution of internal control policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Controller .

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience (construction industry preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and GAAP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Crystal Reports and Power BI preferred.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a positive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Must pass a mandatory drug test.
