Policy & Procedures Specialist
Under the direction of the Manager, Compliance & Training, the Policy & Procedures Specialist is responsible for coordinating the development, preparation, maintenance, and archiving of written departmental policies and procedures. These documents encompass all major functions within the Food & Beverage department and ensure compliance with relevant requirements, while also considering the experiences of both internal and external guests.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities :
1. Develops, reviews, and revises policies, procedures, internal controls, job aids, manuals, memoranda, and other written materials related to the department operations. Develops new internal controls in conjunction with the Food & Beverage leadership team. Maintains detailed knowledge of Yaamava' Resort & Casino (YRC) policies, principles, strategies, and remains up to date with new developments.
2. Collaborates with the Food & Beverage department to ensure procedural accuracy and completeness. Engages with the department to gain insights into departmental operations and emerging needs, ensuring documentation aligns with current standards while proactively identifying and forecasting future policy requirements.
3. Develops and maintains departmental job descriptions, forms, handbooks, and standard operating procedures in collaboration with the Food & Beverage Support and Compliance Team.
4. Ensures the writing style of documentation is simple, clear, concise, grammatically correct, and achieves compliance with YRC requirements, regulations and performance standards across various departments. Reviews all drafts for accuracy and conciseness prior to submitting for review.
5. Maintains an up-to-date database of departmental procedures, including both approved and in-progress documents. Ensures accurate tracking, version control, and accessibility of all procedural materials. Collaborate with relevant team members to update entries as needed, supporting transparency and alignment across the Food & Beverage department.
6. Revises and updates existing procedures regularly to ensure that the department is in compliance with YRC regulations and the most up to date procedures are readily available and accurate.
7. Ensure that the policies and procedures are not contradictory to any departmental guidelines or objectives.
8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Education, Experience And Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in the food service industry is required.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience within casino operations or the hospitality industry preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in writing documents, procedures and guidelines is preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years' supervisory experience is required.
- Related, relevant, and / or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA) :
Demonstrated knowledge of the enterprise's core business processes and Food & Beverage operations.Advanced understanding of compliance standards and practices.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).Skilled in writing clear, user-friendly documentation and procedures.Comfortable learning new software and technologies; strong technical problem-solving abilities.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both internal and external guests.Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking); bilingual ability preferred.Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities.Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills with the ability to build commitment and drive positive outcomes.Customer-focused with a professional demeanor and ability to resolve issues effectively and courteously.Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Licenses, Certifications And Registrations :
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler's Card.Must obtain and maintain a Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Manager certification.Driving Responsibilities : Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Environment :

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office in a Casino and Resort setting.Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and / or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.Sedentary work : involves sitting some of the time.
