This position broadly identifies, documents, and demonstrates the optimal user experience through design activities and deliverables, which are aligned with business requirements and solution scope. This position works with a variety of software development teams and product stakeholders. This person possesses a solid design foundation, an understanding of discipline trends, and the ability to apply their knowledge and skill to a wide variety of project types. This position crosses disciplines and business domains. The user experience designer is an active collaborator with business and functional analysts.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Solid understanding of user-centered principles and visual design

Possess and apply basic knowledge and application of design principles in at least two of the following : User Research, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Interactive Prototyping

Works under the supervision of a discipline lead and contributes to the overall progress and success of their team

Ability to work independently on assigned projects while collaborating effectively with senior team members

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience presenting design work and articulating design decisions to project teams

Ability to take initiative

Ability to adapt to changing technologies

Awareness of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Experience supporting one or more production development teams
  • Strong knowledge in applicable technical software, systems and functions
  • This job operates in a professional office environment

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors / equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of common web development practices
  • Familiarity with designing for Content Management Systems
  • Experience utilizing design systems and complying with visual brand standards
  • Experience designing for Content Management Systems advantageous
