Plans for the most cost-effective utilization of materials. Applies knowledge of material science to recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to attain company's design objectives in the most economical and safest manner possible.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs laboratory testing of slurry seals, aggregates, hot mix asphalt, cold in-place recycling (CIR), soils, mastic materials, and / or asphalt emulsions following requirements
Records test and report results
Organizes and stores materials and data according to the laboratory’s policy
Maintains areas clean and organized
Performs maintenance on equipment as per manufacturer or standards requirements
Maintains equipment records
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and / or Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred but not required
4 or more years of experience in mix design testing, particularly hot mix asphalt and cold in-place recycling (CIR)
Familiarized and have expertise in testing mastic materials, soil, aggregates, and emulsified asphalt
They must read, understand, and follow ASTM, AASHTO, DOT county, municipalities, or any other agency testing methods
High Volume environment
AASHTO R18 documentation
Experience with Microsoft software such as Word, and Excel
