Job Summary
We are seeking a Hospital Facilities Maintenance Manager with a minimum of 8 years of hospital facilities maintenance experience, preferably across multiple trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. The ideal candidate will have experience managing maintenance contracts and a strong understanding of Joint Commission requirements. A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is required.
This role works under minimal supervision to plan, organize, and coordinate various functions of UT Southwestern Medical Center facilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in a related field
Required Experience :
8 years of related experience, including
3 years of supervisory experience
Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of education

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience as an estimator or job superintendent
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
Strong communication and coordination skills with contractors, designers, and end users
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trades
Ability to supervise and develop staff
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Working Conditions : Exposure to noise and other typical hazards of a facility's environment
Essential Functions
Supervise employees and manage workflow planning
Foster teamwork and professional growth through mentoring and training
Conduct staff meetings and participate in recruitment and development initiatives
Review and adjust department assignments, schedules, and staffing plans
Participate in hiring and termination decisions in coordination with HR and leadership
Provide timely counseling, feedback, and performance evaluations
Coordinate projects and ensure timely completion with high-quality service
Optimize use of Physical Plant resources and identify cost-saving opportunities
Review and recommend budget needs
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO, OSHA)
Develop and interpret policies to ensure legal and equitable treatment of employees
Perform other duties as assigned
