Pay Range
$20.40 - $30.60
Major Responsibilities :
- Respond to requests for intervention, consultation and support from the person served, family members, and hospital staff involving children and / or adults who are experiencing a violent injury.
- In collaboration with the emergency department staff, determine the need for a face-to-face assessment and, if needed, negotiate a meeting site convenient for the individual and / or family that provides safety for all involved.
- Conduct bedside visits and provide immediate emotional support following a violent injury.
- Communicate directly with people experiencing an injury to assess current and future needs for support and the person's wishes and goals for crisis resolution.
- Document all pertinent information for violence intervention staff such as accurate phone numbers, address, needs identified, etc.
- Provide education to patients and families about the cycle of violence, coping strategies, and the importance of follow-up care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Must complete required training, education and certification (if applicable) within 1 year of hire
VPP Certification – Violence Prevention Professional
Valid Driver’s license
Education Required :
High School diploma, GED or equivalent
Experience Required :
Personal lived experience recovering from violence, with a demonstrated commitment to using that experience to help others
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of community resources and services available to victims of violence.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Primarily hospital-based with some travel to community sites.Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.Exposed to a normal hospital environment.Potential exposure to stressful and emotionally charged situations.Ability to work non-traditional hours, including overnight.This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.Exposure to a medical setting and household conditions as well as communicable diseases could occur.There is occasional lifting of 20 – 30 pounds necessary to complete a task.Our Commitment to You :
